Strategy page for valuable advice on how to select a good domain name. Once
you have decided on your name, the first step is to check the availability.

1.3. How do I transfer a domain name?
There are two main ways to transfer ownership of a domain name:
Registrar Transfer and Registrant Transfer. The procedure for each transfer
depends on the type of domain name. When you submit any transfer order on our
website, your transfer request must be confirmed. You should always
ensure that the current Administrative Contact email address for your domain
name is a valid, working email address. You may use our
Whois
service to view the information that is currently listed about your domain
name. All of our domain transfer options are located on the
Transfer
page.
Registrar Transfer
A Registrar is a company that provides domain name registration services.
When you perform a Registrar Transfer, you are in effect moving your domain
name from one company to
FastWebServer.com. A successful Registrar Transfer will extend the period of your domain's registration
by one year (from its current expiration date). To perform a Registrar transfer,
select "Transfer" from the main menu. The first step
will be to check that the domain is available for transfer. If it is, you will
be allowed to continue and add it to your shopping cart. At the end of the
process,
your Registrar Transfer request will be submitted. You should keep an eye on
your Administrative Contact email address for confirmation email instructions.
Registrant Transfer
With a Registrant Transfer, you are changing the current holder of a domain
name. This may be because you want to change the contact information or move
the domain to a new
holder. Changing domain
holder information is a free service that you can perform at any time. Simply
go to your
My Domains page, select
the domain you would like to modify, and click "
Edit Domain Contact
Information".

5.13. How do domains
expire?
Dot-CA domains are suspended for 30 days after their expiration date. Only the
domain holder can renew the domain during this period. After suspension, the domain
enters the redemption period. The domain can still be recovered by the Registrant during this period. When the redemption period ends, the domain is listed as TBR
(to be released). Anyone can place a TBR order during the TBR period. If the domain is not reserved during
the TBR registration session, the domain will become Pending Delete for 1 day,
then dropped by the registry and is available to register through regular
registration process.
All other domains typically become suspended for 29 days after their renewal
date. After this time, the domain may enter a Redemption period for an unspecified
amount of time. Once the redemption period ends, the domain is marked for deletion,
and is then released to the public.
