In this Chapter:
The Files in
Your Account
Your hosting account is initially setup with the following
list of directories:
yourdomain-logs
yourdomain-mail
yourdomain-secure
yourdomain-www
www
DO NOT DELETE OR RENAME
any of these directories. These directories are automatically
setup by the system and are required in order for your website
to function properly. Deleting or renaming any of these
directories will cause fatal errors that can only be repaired
by deleting and resetting your account. Deleting and resetting
your account will cause DNS problems. These DNS problems
are not something that can be manually fixed, as they can
only work themselves out in an unpredictable amount of time.
Of these directories, the ONLY ONE that
is important to you is the "www"
directory. This is the directory where you will upload your
web pages and create other subdirectories that will pertain
to your web site. Your pages WILL NOT be
viewable on a web browser unless they are uploaded to this
directory.
When you initially enter your "www"
directory, you will see a directory/file listing similar to
the following:
Again, DO NOT DELETE OR RENAME
any of the directories within this folder. These directories
are created by the system and are required in order for your
account to function properly. You may, however, create new
directories and files and place them within your "www"
directory.
The "cgi-bin" directory is where
you will upload any cgi scripts, while "stats"
stores the files created by the system for viewing your website's
statistics.
As you add options from your Control Panel, such as the Shopping
Cart, Search Engine, Mail List software, etc., the system
will automatically create new directories within this "www"
area. ANY AND ALL sub-directories and/or
files created by the system are required to allow a particular
feature to operate properly and should
not be deleted or altered in any way.
The "index.html" page is the default
entry page for your website. This page will eventually be
replaced by your homepage when it is ready.
The "www" directory is where you
will upload any other pages and create any subdirectories
that may be needed.
Below is a brief description of the different directories
you may encounter when you login to your account, depending
on what options you have utilized from your Control Panel.
These directories should not be altered in any way unless
we have instructed you to do so.

How to View Your
Pages on the WWW
You can view your pages with any browser by entering any
of the following URL's:
http://www.yourdomain.com
http://yourdomain.com
www.yourdomain.com
http://www.yourdomain.com/index.html
http://yourdomain.com/index.html
www.yourdomain.com/index.html
If you received an error message when you typed these URL's,
several things could have gone wrong:
1) Your Initial page is not named "index.html"
2) The code in your "index.html"
page is incorrect
3) InterNIC has not yet completed your
registration/transfer request (this process can take up
to 72 hours). If it has been 72 hours, Resellers will need
to contact InterNIC themselves using the Tracking number
provided in InterNIC's confirmation email. Our regular hosting
clients may contact Technical
Support and provide us with the Tracking Number so that
we can contact them
4) Your account has been deactivated due
to non-payment, non-compliance of our policies, or spamming
violations - users need to contact Technical
Support.
NOTE: If your account has been deactivated
due to spamming violations, we cannot do any thing more,
you must move your domain to another web hosting company.
The best advice that we can pass on to our users is DO
NOT SPAM if you wish to remain on the
Internet.
